:: #QueerBOIS Submission::
Introducing Sistah Sinema: Sistah Sinema is a monthly event screening queer women of color cinema that started two years ago in Seattle, WA. We have hosted screenings in Cleveland, San Antonio, and New York. We will launch Portland in December. We have screened and promoted Pariah, Stud Life, Watermelon Woman, The Lovers and Friends Show and many other films. Sistah Sinema was created to showcase the nuances of Queer Women of Color culture. It is hoped that the movies will serve as a vehicle to foster honest dialogue on the struggles and opportunities unique to Queer Women of Color. While discussion will focus on Queer Women of Color, all members of the Queer community are invited to attend.
Sistah Sinema – Atlanta? We are currently in conversations with queer community leaders in Atlanta to establish monthly Sistah Sinema screenings in the city. To get more information, join our email list here. In addition, we are always looking for volunteers to make our events successful. Volunteers get free admission to our events, and other great perks! Contact us on Facebook or Twitter if you would make a rock star volunteer!
Sistah Sinema Online Indiegogo Campaign: Sistah Sinema is also raising money to create a queer women of color (QWOC) video-on-demand channel, Sistah Sinema - Online, on BuskFilms.com. BuskFilms is a video-on-demand site that showcases the best in lesbian/queer content. Sistah Sinema and Busk Films are collaborating to create an online portal to make QWOC films easier to find and watch, especially for community members living in small cities and rural areas.
