trying to understand why this is so upsetting
my dad still owes 5k in child support and pays it and me and my mom buy shit we need, but also spoil ourselves with Mani/pedis and maybe some shopping
when I was younger the money he send paid for a mommy & daughter yoga class and a gymnastic class for me

really trying to understand why this is so problematic

Yeah but this is child support spent on some dumb ass boots….. maybe uhhhh spend it on the child?

they’re toms- not that expensive. most child support payments are AT LEAST 200$+.
I’m praying she didnt blow it all on herself
but I mean mani + toms = $85????

Do you really think a single mom needs to be spending 85 bucks of child support on some stupid ass shoes? 85 bucks could buy food, diapers, toys for the CHILD, etc….

What the fuck is so confusing about this for people?
If she, the mother, is the primary/resident caregiver for the child(ren), she will be spending more of her cash on them from the get-go. Plus there’s the unpaid labor of time and emotional support that, yah know, comes along with actually being an active parent.
Next, and more to the point, if the father is “finally” sending support—i.e. is sending it LATE—that means that expendable income the mother should have been able to spend on herself in the period before she received child support (I’m talking about money she made) was probably being diverted to the children because Sir Juan wasn’t holding up his end of the financial responsibility and she was covering for his ass.

I want to know why these dumb fucks think the kid doesn’t already have their needs met because Mom has warm feet & spend $20 on her nails. What do they think that $85 (which might be all the support money), was really going to do that she hadn’t already done? That child has to have shelter, clothing, food, & medical care regardless of when the support gets paid & all of those things cost more tha $200 a month.

How dare a single mother spend a little money on herself!
It’s not like she works hard day in and out to raise a child, feeding it, clothing it, giving it medical care, keeping it in school, etc etc, all of which usually comes out of HER POCKET ON A REGULAR BASIS WHILE SHE’S WAITING FOR HIS BUSTED ASS TO CUT A $200 CHECK.
